Our vintage-inspired colors
Nitorlack colors are based on the original Fender and Gibson colors. The creation of these colors is preceded by a great work and exhaustive study by our laboratory and technical department. Thanks to this, we have been able to recreate with fidelity the tones of the Fender and Gibson guitars from the 50’s and 60’s.
During those years up to the present day it should be noted that the colors of vintage guitars have changed a lot over the years due to the aging of the nitrocellulose lacquer and modifications in the colors of the brands.
Therefore, two guitars finished in 1960 with fender colors may be totally different from each other or from a more current guitar.
Application guide:
- We begin to apply the color once the guitar has been primed with Nitorlack Primer.
- When we start the painting work, the pores should be closed and the grain should not be marked.
- We apply the product either by spray or spray gun at a distance of 25 cm.
- When applying we must follow an application pattern, first horizontally and then vertically, applying the paint uniformly.
- We apply several coats, letting dry between them about 24 hours and sanding between them, to remove any remaining impurities.
- This work will be finished when the surface is completely smooth and without imperfections.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How many sprays do I need to varnish a guitar?
– If the surface is well covered and it is not your first painting project, you will be able to do it with a spray, although you will not apply many coats. However if you are not an expert we recommend using 2 sprays for an optimal finish.
What temperature should the guitar be at during and after the process?
– It is recommended to do it in a place whose temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. If the painting or varnishing process is done in very hot or cold conditions, the final result may not be good.
Where should I carry out the process?
A clean site will be essential to prevent dirt or dust particles from adhering to the surface.
Is sanding between coats mandatory?
It is not something you should always do, but it is advisable to remove any imperfections that remain in the paint at the end of each coat, as well as any particles that may adhere.

Llevo varios años con el proyecto de construcción de una guitarra para mi hija. Ella misma eligió el color de vuestro catálogo, red rose. Es un proyecto que solo puedo retomar en verano por las condiciones que requiere de espacio y temperatura este tipo de trabajo. Cuando intenté pedir otro spray de color para acabar el cuerpo, resultó que red rose estaba descatalogado. Así que os pedí consejo para elegir un color parecido. Según las fotos de vuestra web, elegí Dakota red como más parecido a lo que me contestasteis lo siguiente. “red rose es un color que no pertenece a la carta de fender. le sustituimos el nombre por coral pink”. Así que pedí coral pink, confiando en vuestro criterio. Mando fotos del antes y después de aplicar el coral pink. No tenía nada que ver. Como no era lo que tenía proyectado, decidí ponerme en contacto con vosotros para intentar solucionar la confusión, o al menos que lo tuvierais en cuenta para otro clientes ya que red rose y coral pink son dos tonos diferentes. Es el tercer pedido que os hago para este proyecto y no han sido baratos ninguno de los tres pero considero que como proyecto de aprendizaje hay que invertir.
Quiero agradecer especialmente la gestión de Rubén. En cuanto me puse en contacto con vosotros a través de WhatsApp, me atendió y asesoró rápidamente. Creo que la confusión ha estado en la nomenclatura de los colores. Cuando os hice la pregunta no tuve en cuenta la opción de mandar una foto con el estado en ese momento del color de la guitarra. Mandé las fotos cuando ya había recibido y aplicado la primera capa de color coral pink. Ahí fue cuando se vio claramente la confusión y Rubén reaccionó rápidamente, haciendo un segundo envío con el color Dakota red, que sí es semejante al antiguo red rose. Este envío se ha hecho sin conste alguno para mi y a llegado en tiempo récord para ser agosto.
Comentar también que he notado mejoría en la calidad de la pintura desde el primer pedido. Me resulta mejor y más fácil de aplicar. Aunque también hay que tener en cuenta que yo he ido mejorando en la técnica de aplicación de la pintura. La nitrocelulosa es una pintura extremadamente delicada, se araña con mirarla, eso me preocupa pero confío que tanto los micro arañazos del último lijado (3200) y la capa de pintura en sí endurezcan con las capas de lacado.
Agradezco de nuevo la profesionalidad y rapidez de gestión de Rubén. Cuando uno lleva tanto tiempo, esfuerzo y dinero invertido, que te solucionen problemas y aclaren rápidamente las dudas es algo que da mucha tranquilidad.
Vuestro producto es muy recomendable por su calidad y los envíos son impecables. Aunque para el próximo proyecto me paso al poliuretano, que me da que es más duro y fácil de trabajar. Gracias.
