The Art of the Checking Effect: What is it and what do you need to achieve it?<\/b><\/h1>\n

Authentic vintage character starts from the ground up. While our Relic and Golden Age lacquers, due to their lack of plasticisers and specific composition, allow for easy checking, our Freeze Spray acts as the perfect ally to achieve that sought-after vintage look.<\/p>\n

With the freeze spray, you can easily control the type and intensity of the weather checking. If applied at a short distance, you will cool smaller areas and achieve a tighter checking, with a “spider web” type pattern.<\/p>\n

Conversely, if applied from a greater distance and more generally, you will cool wider areas and obtain a more open and broader checking pattern.
\nUltimately, the closer you bring the spray, the finer and more compact the checking will be; the further away you hold it, the larger and more spaced out the pattern will become.<\/p>\n

Instructions for Use:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

  1. Verify that the nitrocellulose lacquer is completely cured. For a much more realistic effect, we recommend allowing the Golden Age or Relic nitrocellulose layer to dry for 2 to 3 weeks.<\/li>\n
  2. Shake the spray for 20\u201330 seconds, until a thin layer of ice forms on the area.<\/li>\n
  3. Apply at a distance of 15\u201325 cm.<\/li>\n
  4. Spray by sections according to the desired pattern, whether detailed or general.<\/li>\n
  5. Repeating the process is optional, depending on the specific goal of each customer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Tip:<\/strong> The greater the thermal difference between the ambient temperature and the spray, the greater the effect on the checking.<\/p>\n

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Does it work on polyurethane, polyester, or water-based finishes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    No. This spray is specifically designed for nitrocellulose lacquer<\/strong>. Other finishes will not react to the spray correctly.<\/p>\n

    Can it damage the guitar?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If used correctly on cured nitrocellulose, it will only affect the surface layer, generating the desired effect. A prior test is recommended.<\/p>\n

    How long does it take for the checking to appear?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The effect is usually immediate or visible within a few seconds after application, once the thin layer of ice disappears.<\/p>\n

    Can the checking pattern be controlled?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Yes. Distance, intensity, and environmental conditions directly influence the result. However, it is not possible to control the orientation of the cracks.<\/p>\n

    Is the effect reversible?<\/strong><\/p>\n
